In a clinical, double-blind and placebo-controlled study conducted by the University of Montreal, a powder of quality elk velvet antler was shown to be effective in alleviating osteoarthritis in dogs, who showed significant improvement in gait, performance in daily activities and vitality. The beneficial effects of velvet antler could be associated in part with the anti-inflammatory action of pilose antler peptide and with the action of pantocrin.
